Netherlands Edge Closer to Super 12 with Tense Win | DoramasQueen

Netherlands took a big step towards the Super 12 of the World T20 on Tuesday with an unbeaten 30 for the loss of two wickets as they defeated Namibia by five wickets.

Restricting the African nation to 121-6 in 20 overs, the Netherlands used seven different bowlers at Geelong’s sunny but almost empty Gardenia Park. T took a lead of 2-18 thanks to some fine fielding.

Europe raced to a 91-1 lead over North in the 14th over as Namibia cruised into the final by four wickets.

With the Netherlands needing 6 runs off the last over, Hero De Leyte sealed victory with two fours off 3 balls. “We lost wickets at a bad time, we can’t do that, we can learn from it as a team,” said De Lidde.

But confidence is always there and it’s good to win two tough games. Maybe it opens the door to a little more freedom for kids.”

Holland played another last-over thriller to top Group A in the first leg.

This is a huge victory for the team that excited the cricket world by winning by 55 runs against the Asian champions Sri Lanka on the first day of the ongoing World Cup in Australia.

The Netherlands beat the UAE by three wickets on the same day and will reach the Super 12 with two wins if the UAE beat Sri Lanka later on Tuesday.

They previously played in the second round in 2014 when they topped their group and then suffered a thrilling defeat of England.

“It’s not good to be on the losing side when it’s so close,” Namibia captain Herhard Erasmus said.

“We played well on the field,” he said. Batting was difficult for both teams but they scored better runs than us.

Erasmus won the toss and elected to bat, but the decision backfired as Namibia struggled to capitalize on their momentum at 32-3 in the sixth over.

Stephen Bird and John Freling steadied the ship with a 31-run partnership, with Roelof van der Merwe dismissing Bird for 19.

De Light hit him big in the same over before Erasmus was caught by Freelink for 43.

Set a huge target of 27 runs in the last three overs, the Dutchman hit a total of seven fours. Max O’Dowd and Vikram Singh took Holland to 44 runs in five overs. Singh hit two sixes on 39 runs and another six off Bernard Schultz. Namibia lost four more wickets for 35, including a sensational feat from O’Dowd.
