Pant eager to take on Pakistan at T20 World Cup in Melbourne | DoramasQueen

Pakistan are gearing up significantly ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia, where they begin their quest for a second title with a Super 12 clash against arch-rivals India on Sunday. He and vice-captain Mohammad Rizwan added runs to Assam skipper Babar’s list of middle-order misdeeds in the tri-series in New Zealand.

Babar can now heave a sigh of relief as they beat New Zealand in Friday’s final after brilliant performances from Mohammad Nawaz, Haider Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed.

Our middle order has done well in the last two matches.

A performance like this before the World Cup gives the team a lot of confidence.

I am sure that I will do well in the World Cup as well. This is a good sign for us.

Rizwan, the top-order batsman in T20 cricket, and Babar at number three need not worry about their innings, they should set the tone for the top-order.

The 2009 champions will also have to be careful not to evaporate like last year, when Pakistan went unbeaten at the Super 12 stage but were sent packing by eventual winners Australia in the semi-finals.

Javelin thrower Shaheen Afridi, who has recovered from a knee injury, is back in the team along with Naseem Shah and Haris Raub.

Babar said, “Pakistan has always been full of fast bowlers and now we have a very fast attack.

Shaheen’s return strengthened our attack. Harris has improved a lot with the new ball and death overs.

“It’s an opportunity to show what we can do as a pace unit.”

After opening their campaign with a sell-out match against India in Melbourne, Pakistan have had no time to settle into the tournament.

Pakistan broke their streak against India in last year’s World Cup and met the neighbors at the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates in September.

“A game against India is always a high-intensity game. The fans look forward to it. We will really enjoy it on the field and give 100 per cent,” Babar said.
