It was the fifth hat-trick in the T20 World Cup and UAE’s first in any T20 international match.

Shanaka’s team 152-8, Patham Nsinga 74 and Miyapan 19-3.

That leaves Group A in the race for the top spot in the third and final match of the Super 12 stage on Thursday, where net run rate will be the deciding factor.

2014 champions Sri Lanka will face another unbeaten Netherlands, while Namibia will face the United Arab Emirates.

Kosal Mendes was bowled for 18 and Aryan Lagra was bowled lbw for Sri Lanka’s 42 runs.

Nsinga was supported by Dhananjay de Silva and the Sri Lankan fans blew their horns as the pair hit a brilliant six.

But their 50-run partnership ended in a spirited run-out.

Nesenka knocks the ball down and De Silva is set up, but his teammate catches him and shows no reaction.

Nsinga completed his eighth T20I half-century with a cover shot, but was then dismissed by Rajapakse, Aslanka and Shanaka.

At the other end, Nishank calmed down and started swinging the bat before being dismissed in the last over.

The pace attack had no answer as UAE slumped to 21-4 in the sixth over and Sri Lanka never recovered as they ran riot. Despite the batsmen taking 3-15, Sri Lanka’s concerns remained.
